Rebel Tennis Club, with three wins, has taken the lead in the Guyana Lawn Tennis Association (GLTA) inter club competition currently underway.
They are followed by Roraima and Sheltez A with two wins each.
The inter club meet has the blessing of the GLTA whose president Grace Mc Calman said she was heartened by the support the tournament was receiving.
“It is heartening to see clubs get an opportunity to play on other club courts and play other members at their levels. I see this as a pillar for club development,” said Mc Calman.
Meanwhile, in recent reports, Sheltez B delivered a clinical defeat of Non-Pariel Tennis Club 5-2. However, Sheltez A lost 3-4 to Le Ressouvenir.
The two Sheltez teams duly squared off and Team A won that encounter while Rebel too defeated Sheltez B and subsequently, Le Ressouvenir. Matches conclude this week at Harry Panday’s court and Le Ressouvenir Tennis Club.
