Malcolm Henry is currently in the New Amsterdam Hospital after a policeman allegedly shot him in his foot during a random search.
According to the mother of the young man who was shot at around 8 last night, her son was sitting on the bench at their gate, at Lot 319 East Canefield Settlement, when a police vehicle stopped and five cops appeared and asked the man what he had in his pocket. Roxanne Prince told Stabroek News that one of the police officers then pushed her son to the vehicle and started to search his pocket. According to the woman, Henry, 26, took out his money and a lighter. The woman said that a scuffle later ensued between Henry and the police during which he was shot.
Neighbours were last night angry over the conduct of the policemen.
