While a suspect has been charged with the murder of Oriley Small, two others who had been held by police were released from custody over the weekend.
This is according to a reliable source, who told Stabroek News that the two men are still expected to report to the police.
The other suspect, Maurice Prince, was charged with the crime last Thursday and remanded to prison until April 14. Testing conducted by police had allegedly uncovered a large amount of gunpowder residue on the hands of Prince.
Small was shot several times on March 19 outside his Smyth Street, Georgetown home. At the time, he had just returned from a hang in the city. A man dressed in a black hoodie was seen exiting the yard after the shooting.
Small, said to be a businessman, had escaped death twice before after he was shot in separate attacks. In 2009, he was one of five persons who were shot after a football match at the National Gymnasium. He was also one of three persons who was shot at the National Cultural Centre in 2012, where a football tournament was being played.
