The police on the Essequibo Coast are conducting investigations into a hit and run accident that occurred on Monday night and left a man dead.
According to a police press release, at about 2345h on Monday, Lionel King, 26 years, of Maria’s Lodge, Essequibo Coast, was walking along the Johanna Cecelia Public Road, Essequibo, when he was struck down by a motor car that was driven away from the scene.
King was taken to the Suddie Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Investigations led to the motor car being located at a residence at Good Hope, Essequibo Coast.
A man has been arrested and is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
