The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, Guyana Branch, will be conducting a two-day training seminar for Members of Parliament on 31st March and 1st April, 2016.
A release from Parliament Office yesterday said that among the objectives of the seminar are to enhance the working relationship among Members of Parliament and provide them with a better understanding of financial scrutiny and administrative support for the operation of an effective committee system. Other objectives are to provide clarity on the use of parliamentary procedures and practices and to discuss how co-operation among parties in parliaments can create an effective and functional parliamentary environment.
The opening ceremony will be held at the Guyana Marriott, 31st March, 2016, at 9 a.m. The feature address will be delivered by Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo. Akbar Khan, Secretary General of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association and representatives of the British and Canadian Parliaments will be facilitators at the seminar.
To conclude the seminar, a brief discourse would be held at the University of Guyana Education Lecture Theatre, 1st April, 2016, between 15:30 to 17:30 with the Secretary-General of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association and students from all faculties of the University participating in an interactive discussion.
