Wolf’s Memorial Challenge tournament bowls off April 3

A nationwide softball tournament for male and female teams is set to bowl off April 3.

The tournament will be managed by the Guyana Floodlight Softball Cricket Association and will be known as the Wolf’s Memorial Challenge Cup, a release from the organisers states.

Imran Hussain, owner of Wolf Furniture World of Lot 27 Leonora West Coast Demerara and owner of one of Guyana’s foremost softball team Wolf Warriors, is sponsoring the softball tournament, the release stated.

The competition is being held in honour of Emaam Hussain, father of Imran Hussain who passed away 21 years ago.

The Wolf’s Memorial Challenge Cup will be played in three categories, male/female Open, and male Masters – 43 years and older, born 1973 or before.

The prizes for the Open and Masters categories are trophies and $100,000 for the winners and trophies and $25,000 for the runners up.

The female will battle for a trophy and $50,000 with the runners up set to receive a trophy and $25,000.

There will be also be a trophy and $5000 for players of the tournament, while players of the finals will receive a trophy and $5,000.

The Wolf Memorial Challenge Cup softball tournament was launched at the Fort Lauderdale Cricket stadium on March 13th, the day of the final of the Florida Cup 2016 and one of GFSCA official team “Floodlights” won the Masters of Florida Cup 2016 competition while Floodlights Legends and GFSCA Wolf Warriors did not make it to the play-offs in the Open category.
