Late former Chief State Planner Clyde Roopchand gave yeoman service to Guyana both locally and internationally with unquestionable dedication, according to the People’s Progressive Party (PPP).
Roopchand, who served for many years in the State Planning Secre-tariat and the Ministry of Finance, died in New York on Wednesday at the age of 70.
In a statement issued yesterday, the PPP said it is cognisant of the invaluable and selfless contributions he made towards the development of Guyana and the advancement of Guyanese.
“Our party believes that his demise is not only a tremendous loss to the nation but a deprivation to those who sought his wisdom and advice. With a wealth of experience, he was a reservoir of knowledge and played an integral role in aiding the transformation and modernization of Guyana over the years. His passion and commitment to advance the country and the welfare of its people, is undisputed,” it said.
“Guyana has indeed lost a stalwart and a true son. The best tribute would be to ensure that his contributions are not forgotten and the impeccable standards he set, be emulated,” it added.
