No word from Cummings Lodge teen since June 2015 trek to ‘gold bush’

The parents of a 19-year-old Cummings Lodge resident are seeking the public’s assistance in locating their son, who has not been heard from since leaving his home last June to pursue work as a miner in the interior.

Cowsilla Merchan and Adrian Ramdeo related to Stabroek News that their youngest son Steven Ramdeo left his Cummings Lodge home on June 3, 2015. The couple explained that Ramdeo left to go work in the “bush” with a friend called “Chowda” and they haven’t had any contact with him since.

They said they are worried as it is unlike him to keep away from his family like that for such an extended period of time.

“Anywhere he go he does call, even if it is one time a day, he does call,” Merchan said.

She added that they continuously receive conflicting reports about Ramdeo’s location.

“One time we hear he in Bartica another time we hear he deh somewhere else, but we haven’t heard a word from him since he left,” the concerned mother lamented.

She noted that they have since lodged missing person’s reports at the Yarrowkabra and Turkeyen      Police Stations, adding that the officers at the Yarrowkabra Police station indicated that they will send out radio messages in the interior locations in hopes of locating the man.

Merchan described her son as being short, fat and fair in complexion and with several tattoos on his body.

“I just want him to come back home,” Merchan pleaded.

Anyone knowing the whereabouts of Steven Ramdeo is asked to contact the family on telephone numbers: 696-9045, 688-0745 or 220-3754 or the nearest police station.
