The Supreme Court has advertised for temporary magistrates in the wake of initiatives aimed at easing the backlog of cases and overcrowding in the prisons.
A March 30, notice said that applicants should have been admitted to practise at the Bar in Guyana and should have at least three years of professional legal experience.
Employment will be for a period not exceeding six months but may be extended at the discretion of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
Applications with two recent testimonials attesting to suitability and character should be forwarded to the Secretary, JSC, Court of Appeal Building, 60 High Street, Kingston, Georgetown.
Applicants must not be over the age of 55 and the closing date for applications is April 13, 2016.
