Dear Editor,
I have read with a great deal of interest in the last few days the comments about Brian Tiwari and I wish to invite the public to examine a few acceptable facts. The first is that no man is perfect. There is good in the worst of us and bad in the best of us.
The next is that this current government has declared openly that it has been elected to serve all the people of Guyana, whether they are PPP/C, WPA, PNCR or AFC or belong to any other group.
Now if one tries to apply these concepts to the comments about Brian Tiwari one has to ask whether such comments are fair. What is wrong with a person being a strong PPP/C supporter and deciding to support the current government? Isn’t this what the present government is about?
One of the criticisms is why Brian Tiwari was granted a diplomatic passport. Well the answer is clear he is the Honorary Consul of Spain in Guyana and as a result he is automatically entitled to a diplomatic passport.
While it is a good thing to openly comment on government policy, one has to take a number of matters such as I have mentioned into account, so as to ensure that the criticism is constructive.
The opposition party in Guyana seems to make an issue of matters even if they are acceptable, and does not assist the current government in achieving unity, prosperity and good living in Guyana.
What is wrong if the current government accepts someone from the opposition who is willing to make a contribution by supporting this government in ensuring that the whole of Guyana achieves racial harmony and unity for the development of a peaceful and prosperous nation?
Yours faithfully,
