(Jamaica Gleaner) The Police are advising that they will be strictly enforcing the laws relating to how close to Gordon House persons can gather for next week’s State Opening of Parliament.
The Ceremonial opening of Parliament will take place next week Thursday and, typically, supporters of both major political parties gather to cheer on the politicians as they arrive.
The police say in keeping with the provisions of the Public Order Act pertaining to gatherings in proximity of certain places, persons will not be allowed within 200 yards of the Parliament building.
It says as a result, the perimeter for Gordon House will be Duke and North Street in the north; Duke and Sutton street in the south; Beeston and Hanover Streets in the east; and Beeston and King Streets in the west.
The advisory did not state why the decision to enforce the law strictly had been taken.
