Agricola Red Triangle were crowned the inaugural Ralph Green-sponsored East Bank Football Association Under-11 League champions, edging unlikely finalist Craig Primary 1-0 yesterday at the Grove Playfield.
Earning their berth to the final following a 4-2 penalty shootout win over hosts Grove Hi-Tech in the semi-final round, Agricola secured the championship as eventual Most Valuable Player (MVP) Floyd Boyce settled the contest with a 21st minute header into the back of the net.
With the win, Agricola collected the championship trophy and the first place replicas. On the other hand, Craig Primary, who sealed their berth to the final after crushing debutants Friendship United 5-0 in the semifinal stage, received the runners-up accolade and replicas.
In the earlier third place playoff, Grove Hi-Tech edged Friendship United by a 1-0 margin. Eventual tourney Highest Goal Scorer Tyrese Jones was the difference on the day as he netted his third of the event compliments of a 29th minute conversion via the penalty mark.
Grove Hi-Tech collected the third place accolade and respective replicas while the losing team received the fourth place trophy and replicas. In the other individual award, Agricola’s Adam Wilson was adjudged to Best Goalkeeper.
