(Trinidad Express) ONLINE buyers, calm down. Some of you will get a “bligh”.
Online purchases of a small value will not be subject to the seven per cent tax, Finance Minister Colm Imbert told the Sunday Express on Saturday.
The tax will only apply to online purchases above a certain value, he said, adding he had not yet determined at what threshold an item will attract the tax.
But he noted this decision should “ease the stress”.
The announcement of the tax on Friday has generated some heated debate from the population, which has increasingly used online shopping to escape the higher cost of goods on the local market.
