Dear Editor,
The recent attempts by persons or groups to malign the name of Minister of State, Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Harmon, will fail.
Mr Harmon is incorruptible; I say this, based on my ten or more years of association with him during my service with the Guyana Defence Force.
Like all mortals, mistakes are made; his pronouncements (a) on the salary increases for Ministers of Government and (b), his no apology statement to the People’s Progressive Party, were both impolite.
The harsh comments from some sections of the society on his recent exercise (GRA and Tiwari) are therefore totally unfounded and unfortunate.
It will be most unfortunate if the government were to accede to those who are now baying for Mr Harmon’s blood, by penalizing him. The media must not be allowed to crucify any one to project its image.
I do support and commiserate with Lieutenant Colonel Harmon.
Yours faithfully,
CS Vaughn, MSM
Major (Ret’d)
