Fiona Harris, the first and only female president of the Guyana Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (GBBFF) passed away yesterday morning at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.
Harris, who was at the helm of the federation from 2010 to 2012, died after a brief illness.
Her passing was confirmed by her only child, Kadija Andrews.
She would have been 38 next week.
After the news of her passing broke, current GBBFF President, Keavon Bess released the following statement:
It is with regret we wish to inform you of the death of Ms. Fiona Harris who passed away this morning after a brief illness.
Harris’ passing is a great shock to the local and regional bodybuilding fraternity and in less than three months we have lost two bodybuilding stalwarts. Fiona was a great athlete and a champion for the cause of bodybuilding and fitness and she will be greatly missed. From the GBBFF and other sporting federations.
Bess went on to state that he was saddened by her passing, adding that Harris’ demise is “an extremely great loss to us and other associations and condolences are extended to her family and love ones.”
Harris will surely be missed by the sporting fraternity.
