Minister of State, Joseph Harmon on Monday met with the members of the Board of Inquiry, which was mandated to investigate allegations of mismanagement and wrongdoing at the Guyana Oil Company (Guyoil) and Guyana Energy Agency (GEA). The report is due on May 16, 2016.
The board members, who were appointed in March, met with the Minister to update him on their progress and provided an oral preliminary report, a release from the Ministry of the Presidency said.
Assistant Commissioner Winston Cosbert leads the board and its other members are Superintendent Julius Wright and Major Edgar Adams, the release said.
The board was instituted following several allegations of misconduct against staff within both fuel agencies.
The release said that the aim of the Inquiry is to advise the state on the truthfulness of those allegations, report their findings and conclusions to the Government and to make recommendations on actions to be taken if individuals are found culpable.
Both the GEA and Guyoil were subjects of audits by the new government after it entered office in May last year.
