Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Chief Wayne Forde said the entity will consult with its membership before making a decision on who it will support at the upcoming CONCACAF Ordinary Congress next month.
In an invited comment, Forde told Stabroek Sports:“We will write the membership and ask for their guidance. We will send them the manifesto of the candidates like we did for the FIFA elections and when they give us their guidance, the executive committee will then meet, deliberate and make a decision.
“We did the same process for the FIFA elections and will that again,” he added.
The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) will stage its 31st Ordinary Congress on May 12th 2016 in Mexico City, Mexico to elect a new president.
Initially, Guyana had thrown its support publicly behind current Lady Jaguars Head-Coach Mark Rodrigues for the post.
Presently Canada Soccer Association (CSA) President Victor Montagliani, Bermuda Football Association (BFA) Chief Larry Mussenden and current Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Boss Antiguan Gordon Derrick are the three individuals battling for the top spot.
The three contestants will hope to return the confederation on the path of good governance following the corruption scandal that saw previous President Jeffrey Webb and his successor Honduran Alfredo Hawit, who has acted as CONCACAF Head following Webb’s sensational arrest in Zurich, Switzerland indicted by the US Department of Justice in the ongoing corruption probe.
