The Indian Cultural Centre will host ‘Indian Arrival Fest 2016’ at the Arthur Chung Convention Centre on May 5. The event will be held in celebration of the 178th anniversary of the arrival of Indians to Guyana.
Billed as a ‘Grand Cultural Food and Beverage Festival,’ it begins at 5.30 pm and will include presentations by President David Granger and the High Commissioner of India to Guyana.
The programme will feature Tassa and Tadja drumming and cultural presentations by members of the Indian Cultural Centre, the Shakti Strings Orchestra and Troupe, Chate Singh, five dance troupes and several of Guyana’s legendary singers including Celia Samaroo, Sukrane Boodhoo, Rajesh Dubraj and Artie Sookhai. There will also be a special guest appearance by the Chinese Dragon Dance Troupe.
A variety of Indian, Chinese, local and international food and beverages will be on sale.
Tickets cost $500 and are on sale at Survival Supermarket, Satro General Store and Giftland Department Store.
