The Ministry of Public Infrastructure (MPI) on Saturday said that Dennis Street, Sophia, between ‘A’ Field and Eastern Highway, is now reopened to vehicular traffic, days ahead of its scheduled completion.
Construction, which began on April 4, was scheduled to be completed by April 18, a release from MPI said. However, recognising that the closed area was a vital one for residents and commuters in Sophia, General Contractor Colin Talbot and his team worked harder to ensure that the work was done before its deadline, the release added.
The road works saw the completion of approximately 300 metres of timber revetment along Dennis Street. This construction included the installation of steel tie-rods and “dead man” structures.
Besides Sophia, the Ministry will be undertaking major infrastructural works in Pattensen and Turkeyen as part of its Urban Areas Development Plan for 2016.
