The Guyana Police Force has returned the file on alleged death threats made against President David Granger on Facebook to its legal advisor after conducting additional investigations that were requested.
According to Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum, the advisor returned the case file to the police last Friday with certain recommendations and the request for further investigations. Blanhum, contacted for an update on the case, did not detail what recommendations were made but confirmed that the file was returned to the force’s legal advisor.
Bibi Safaora Salim, 52, of East Bank Essequibo, was arrested on the morning of March 31, along with her son, who allegedly created her Facebook account for her, after police investigated the alleged threats.
Her son was released on station bail the same evening and Salim was released the next day.
Stabroek News was previously told that she provided investigators with a statement in which she denied making the threats. Two other individuals who were also allegedly involved are yet to be apprehended.
