PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – Trinidad and Tobago’s Soca Warriors will play Peru next month in an international friendly as they continue their preparation for the ongoing 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
The fixture, set for Lima on May 23, comes just four days before the Warriors clash with Uruguay in another high profile encounter in Montevideo.
Head coach Stephen Hart said the games were just the kind needed by T&T as they aimed to qualify for the World Cup.
“We now have two games against quality opposition who will be in the final stages of preparation for their Copa America Centenario,” he said.
“I am extremely grateful for this opportunity, with all that playing away from home entails. Football is physically and psychologically demanding, and these are the type of games that demand complete concentration to maximize both individual and collective performances. One cannot ask for much more.”
Like Uruguay, Peru are expected to pose a strong challenge to T&T. They are ranked 46th in the world and are two-time winners of the Copa America.
