The young woman who was stabbed about her body less than four days ago, allegedly by her reputed husband who is still to be apprehended, is severely traumatized, even as she is physically recovering from the attack.
Twenty-five-year-old Michelle Drennon, a waitress, of Lot 1607 Cadet Lane, South Ruimveldt, Georgetown and a mother of an 11-month-old boy was stabbed at least four times about her body—to her back, upper chest and above her shoulder—around 6 pm on Wednesday, April 20.
According to reports, the attacker was previously charged with assaulting her. Relatives said she had recently returned to live with her parents after she and the suspect had an argument.
Up to yesterday afternoon, Michelle remained admitted as a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) where she has undergone a series of surgeries.
Her sister, Tandicka Drennon, when contacted by this newspaper yesterday explained that since the incident not just her sister, but her entire family is scared. As such, they have not been staying at their home because they fear the attacker would want to harm them.
According to Tandicka, the man has been constantly contacting the family enquiring about the injured woman. “He calling our landline and pretending to be his mother asking how she’s doing and my mother pretty well know it’s his voice… she asked him not to call the phone again,” the sister said. She said while the man has been calling it is unclear where he is.
“One time he even call my uncle phone and ask if we would want to take Michelle to a private hospital,” she said, adding that while they fear for their safety, they are more concerned about Michelle’s. They fear he would want to harm her while she is at the hospital.
“My sister is just traumatized, every time my mother go and see her she would start crying saying that she dreamt that he was trying to attack her with a knife,” Tandicka said. She added that Michelle would plead with her relatives not to let her alleged attacker come near her.
Tandicka also said that based on what she understands, the man has been in constant contact with his mother, who has been pleading with him to turn himself over to the police but he has paid her no heed and refused to disclose his location.
“He would always say nobody can’t do him nothing because he have police friends who would spare him if he get in any trouble,” the sister said.
She explained that while she is aware that her sister made numerous reports against the man previously and he was even charged, she is not aware of her ever obtaining a restraining order for him. She alleged though that on several occasion the “police friends” of the attacker would visit their home pleading with Michelle to settle the matter with the man and move on.
