The recently-formed Marcus Brian Bisram Foundation yesterday held a fun day at the Number 70 Village, Corentyne Ball field and pledged to help the underprivileged.
The fun day was held in an effort to bring awareness to the foundation. According to 27-year-old Marcus Brian Bisram, Founder, Chief Executive Officer and President, he has been making donations to Guyana for the past seven years, through various non- profit organizations.
Bisram who hails from the Corentyne said that about a month ago the Marcus Brian Bisram Foundation was formed. He stressed that he wants to continue to give back to his community and to the country at large.
During his speech he pledged $200M per year to Guyanese. He said “this will help people who cannot afford medical assistance take them to foreign countries to perform surgeries that cannot be performed in Guyana” and “pay for CXC examinations for those who cannot afford”. It was also highlighted that the foundation is working towards building a home in Berbice for battered women and children who are homeless. He said that food supplies will also be provided to single parents.
He divulged that although the foundation’s base is in the United States, an office will be created in Berbice.
This will also create job opportunities for Berbicians. The pledge of $200M will start from this year, he said. Bisram migrated to the United States at a young age. He studied at Hunter College.
