KINGSTON, Jamaica,CMC- American Tyson Gay will compete in the men’s 100M sprint at the Jamaica International Invitational carded for May 7 at the National Stadium, organisers have confirmed. Gay, 33, joins his countrymen Mike Rogers and Ryan Bailey, who were earlier confirmed for the marquee event.
The World Championships sprint double gold medallist is the second fastest man of all times behind Jamaica’s Usain Bolt.
Gay was scheduled to compete in the Jamaica Invitational in 2013 but was disqualified after false-starting.
Other top athletes confirmed for the event include World and Olympic champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, World Championships 100m hurdles gold medallist Danielle Williams, World Championships 200m silver medallist Elaine Thompson, Commonwealth Games 200m champion Rasheed Dwyer, Canadian sprint sensation Andre De Grasse, former World Record holder Asafa Powell and American World Championships and Olympic Games gold medallist Sanya Richards-Ross.
Additionally, all four members of the Jamaica women’s 4x400m team that won the gold medal at the World Championships last year are also down to compete.
