Liliendaal Wolves now occupy the top spot in the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) division one league after defeating previous leaders Order and Discipline 3-1 yesterday at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground, Bourda.
Entering the matchup on second place due to their opponent’s superior goal differential, Wolves snatched the lead in the sixth minute as Jerris Moses found the back of the net.
Order and Discipline levelled the contest in the 21st minute as Collin Birchman etched his name on the scorer’s sheet.
However, Wolves re-established their advantage upon the resumption of the second period through a Travis Garraway strike in the 47th minute.
The contest was then put beyond the reach of Order and Discipline when Akeem Saul scored four minutes later. With the win, Wolves, on 10 points occupy the top spot while the losers, on seven points, are in second place.
Meanwhile, Houston Stars secured their first win of the event, edging cellar occupant Black Water FC by a 4-0 margin. Joel Junior, Eon Sullivan, Joey Garrett and Keron Edwards scored in the 17th, 40th, 51st and 58th minutes respectively.
Despite the win, Houston remain in fourth position on five points while the losers are yet to record a point.
