On Tuesday, the Guyana Energy Agency (GEA) received two ‘Ground Water Data loggers’ from the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Technical Assistance (REETA) Project which is funded by the Government of Germany through the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).
A release from the GEA yesterday said that the equipment, which is used for measurement and recording of ground/surface water levels and temperature, will be used at potential Hydropower sites in Guyana.
REETA also facilitated a Hydropower Engineer, Tobias Dertman from Germany to support Guyana in its various hydropower initiatives, the release said. Stationed at GEA’s Head Office, Dertman will be in Guyana for two years where he will not only lend his expertise towards hydropower development in Guyana, but will also help GEA’s Engineers so as to build local capacity in relation to Hydropower Development.
The REETA Project, headed by Dr. Andreas Taeuber, is based at the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat.
