Some of the country’s key public and private sector entities have registered to participate in a forum designed to secure a close-up look at security-related contemporary developments in information technology designed to further safeguard their IT infrastructure.
This newspaper understands that the forum, which will take place at the Marriott Hotel on Wednesday, May 4, is being hosted by two international companies, Fujitsu and Fortinet, in collaboration with the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI).
The forum, the GCCI says, will provide participants with “an exclusive look at next-generation developments in Information and Communication Technology.”
The American company Fortinet is widely regarded as a global leader in network security and the Chamber release says the company “delivers the most innovative, highest performing network security platform” designed to reduce the chances of companies’ IT infrastructure being compromised. Fortinet is credited with being able to “consolidate and simplify security, by deploying industry leading threat management from the edge to the endpoint, and all points in between.”
Fujitsu, a Japanese multinational information technology equipment and services company, is one of the world’s largest IT services providers.
What the Chamber release describes as a “customized event” is, it says, “tailored to Guyana’s government, business and technology fraternities” and offers an agenda that “includes tracks on emerging technologies, with hands-on demonstrations.” It says that at the end of the exercise participants “will be better prepared to help their organizations “take advantage of evolving trends, and communicate and collaborate in more efficient ways.” It says that some of the key “takeaways” from the event for participants will be the ability to “connect with Fujitsu and partner team for guidance and advice on the specific IT challenges your organization may be facing, anticipate emerging technologies and communications trends so you can plan for the future deliver more agile, citizen-centric services to your stakeholders” and “do more with the technologies you currently have, to drive out greater levels of efficiency and reduce costs.”
