A man is now at the Georgetown hospital after he was shot several times to one of his legs last night.
Quaison (only name given), 40, of Bare Root, East Coast Demerara, was in his yard when a man allegedly rode up on a bicycle and opened fire, hitting him some three times.
“Me and my husband were watching television when I heard some explosion and thought it was squibs but then I think back and said it can’t be at this time and when I checked outside I see he [Quaison] laying on the bridge,” a neighbour told Stabroek News yesterday.
She recalled hearing about six shots.
“Everybody know who shoot he and he was at home when he get shot and was probably looking after he birds them that he got in his yard but everybody know who shoot he,” a relative of the man said, while noting that the alleged shooter lives in the same area.
He said it was known that Quaison and the man had problems and he would warn him to stay away from him since the man has a history of violence. “Only the other day he went in police vibes for shooting at some people and he does feel like nobody can’t do he anything because he got police friends,” the relative added.
He was told that his relative was in the yard and the man rode up on his bicycle and the two had a confrontation, which ended in a scuffle and then several shots being fired. The shot man is stable at the Georgetown Public Hospital while the alleged perpetrator is currently on the run.
