Haemanthus Katherinae commonly called Blood Lily originated in South Africa and is a member of the Amaryllis family.
The Blood Lily received its name from the red stains on the large flower head. The bulb produces 4 to 5 broad evergreen leaves approximately 12 inches tall with a large ball-like cluster red flower with myriad thread-like stamen.
