Bakewell Incorporated became the latest corporate entity to partner with the Guyana Football Federation (GFF), purchasing 100 tickets for North Ruimveldt Multilateral School students for viewing of the international friendly between Guyana and the Canada u23 Olympic team.
The match, which is to be held May 15th at the National Stadium, Providence, will be the first meeting of national football sides of the two countries.
According to an official press release from the GFF:“In preparation of the International Friendly between the Golden Jaguars and the Canadian Olympic team on May 15, Bakewell has partnered with the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) to enable one hundred school-aged children to attend the match.
“The company, which operates one of the largest bakeries in Guyana, purchased the tickets and these were presented on Friday, 29th April, 2016 to the students of the North Ruimveldt Multilateral School during the launch of the GFF-NAMILCO Thunderbolt Flour Power National Under-17 Intra-Association Football League.
“The GFF’s president, Wayne Forde, has lauded Bakewell’s contribution and has issued a call for other corporate entities to partner with the GFF to enable young people to engage in a worthwhile activity. Companies are encouraged to purchase the youth tickets in bulk for distribution to schools and other youth-oriented organizations.
“The GFF’s Youth Ticket Initiative was launched in April 2016 and aims to, among others, create and build interest among the youth for the game of football and allows those 12 – 17 years entry to football games at half price. Youth tickets are being sold at five hundred dollars ($500.00) and are available at the GFF’s office, Dadanawa Street, Section K Campbellville” the document concluded.
