A second half horror show in defence from Fruta Conquerors witnessed Slingerz FC recording an embarrassing 8-1 win when the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Stag Beer Elite League continued on Friday.
With the game evenly poised 1-1 entering the second period at the Leonora Sports Facility, the Tucville unit imploded as they conceded seven goals alongside two red cards in an abject and humiliating display for a side positioned second in the standings.
Moreso, the result was the worst loss in the history of the League, eclipsing the 7-1 thrashing of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) by Slingerz earlier in the event.
The rout commenced in the 47th minute as Julian Wade slipped between two centre-halves to latch onto loose ball before finishing past the advancing goalkeeper into the roof of the net.
Billed as a contest between the best two teams, it was a far cry from that in the second stanza as the Tucville unit conceded their first red card in the 57th minute with Rafael Edwards receiving his second bookable offence for a handball infraction.
Despite their handicap, Eon Alleyne had a great chance to level the contest in the 69th minute, latching onto a pass from Dwayne Lindie inside the box, only to be denied by the advancing goalkeeper in a one-on-one situation.
It is from this point that the madness ensued as Domini Garnett scored seconds later, sliding his effort into the lower left corner from the centre of the box, after a right side evaded the backline.
An absolute howler led to the score climbing to 4-1 in the 76th minute as a tame right side cross was spilt by the custodian into the path of the unchallenged Wade, who made no mistake with a finish into the roof.
Coupled with the poor substitution choices, the discipline was simply missing from the Tucville unit as they conceded four more goals in as many minutes.
Wade grabbed his hat trick in the 85th minute as a poor back pass from the final defender forced the goalkeeper off his line to make a challenge outside the box, which fell into the path of forward who calmly lobbed the ball into the empty net.
