The National Assembly on Wednesday night reflected on the life of the late Haslyn Parris who was lauded for his contributions to Guyana particularly in the areas of state planning and the development of the Bauxite Industry.
Parris, a former deputy prime minister with responsibility for planning and development, a Member of Parliament from 1984 to 1991, a former chairman of the State Planning Board and former chairman and CEO of the Bauxite Industry Development Company and Guyana Mining Enterprise respectively died on March 28 at the age of 75.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Carl Greenidge who moved a motion in the House to express sympathy on the death of Parris gave a lengthy tribute during which he reflected on his academic, professional and political career.
Opposition MP Odinga Lumumba also paid tribute, recalling fond memories.
