Dear Editor,
I am concerned that President David Granger has thrown himself into work and is not finding the time to enjoy life a bit more. Of course, I have no idea if this is the case. Life is not just about work, eating and sleeping. We need to find time to celebrate and enjoy life as well.
When was the last time the President went to a dancehall and bust out some moves on the dancefloor to chutney, bollywood, soca, reggae, dancehall music?
Which brings me to my next point. Society today seems to be preoccupied with making ends meet. People these days seem to have less time to socialise and enjoy life. What we could do is to consider giving people more time to relax and socialise.
We need to seriously look at the number of hours in the work week. I believe that the work week should be cut from 40 hours per week to 35 hours per week. You could have someone, together with our union leaders, look into whether this is a worthwhile suggestion and its effects.
If people think you are just working, eating and sleeping they will tend to do the same. We Guyanese want to know that you are enjoying life as well.
Yours faithfully,
Sean Ori
