Plaisance Secondary overcame President’s College 33-30 in overtime in an U16 affair when the National School Basketball Festival (NSBF) Georgetown and East Coast Regionals’ continued Saturday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
Andrew Johnson was a one-man army for the winning team as he battled to a mammoth 29 points and three steals. Supporting was Nigel Bowen who scored the remaining four points.
On the other side, Akeem Crandon recorded a double-double of 13 points and as many rebounds while Kareem Boyle scored 11 points. In the second result of the division, the Bishops High dismantled St. Stanislaus College 36-11.
Webster McCrae top scored for the winning team with nine points and six rebounds while Stefan Hamilton chipped in with seven points. Top scoring in the loss with six points was Brandon Friday.
Meanwhile, in the U19 section, Marian Academy downed the Bishops’ High School 32-27. Jonathan Mangra and Judah Stephney led the way with 11 and eight points respectively.
On the other side, Timothy Thompson scored seven points and collected eight rebounds while Mikhail Broomes scored seven points. Similarly, St. Stanislaus College downed Queen’s College 39-22. Travis Belgrave recorded 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds while Kadeem Bowen and Anfernee Headecker assisted with 11 and 10 points apiece.
For Queen’s College, Omari Joseph scored 11 points while Damani Thomas recorded seven points and six rebounds. Also, Georgetown Technical Institute (GTI) brushed aside President’s College 49-33. Nathan Saul shot his way to 17 points while Kerwin Griffith recorded 10 points and four rebounds and Keon Marks registered 10 points and six rebounds.
Leading the losing team with eight and six points were Kadeem Peterkin and Anton Fileen respectively.
In the girls division, Marian Academy dismissed St. Stanislaus 16-2. Jada Mohan led the way with eight points and two steals while Georginna Vyphius scored four points and grabbed five rebounds. For the losing team Natesha Seymour scored two points and grabbed as many rebounds.
Also, St. Rose’s High crushed President’s College 16-4. Jamaica Blair scored six points while Jada Amerally scored six points and pulled in three rebounds. For President’s College, Destiny McDonald registered two points and six rebounds while Analisa Barclay scored two points.
