The naked body of an unidentified man was discovered on the Kitty foreshore yesterday morning but there were no reported marks of violence.
Stabroek News understands that the discovery was made around 9 am by a passersby who discerned a foul odour coming from the area and on checking saw the decomposing body of a man of African descent lying on the sand just behind the Celina’s Resort.
When this newspaper arrived at the scene, police officers and detectives were already present conducting investigations. A large crowd also gathered to get a glimpse of the body as the news of the discovery spread.
A police source informed this newspaper that there was no sign of foul play. However, police stations were informed and efforts are being made to verify if the body was that of a missing person.
The corpse is currently at the Lyken’s Funeral Parlour, awaiting identification which was not done up to late yes
