Murder suspect Rudolph Williams, who managed to elude the police for almost four months after he allegedly killed his wife Bibi Zabeeda Zamaludeen, died on Sunday, one week after he ingested a poisonous substance.
Williams called “Hook” died at the Suddie Hospital where he was admitted after ingesting a poisonous substance. He was wanted by the police for questioning into the murder of Zamaludeen.
Forty-four-year-old, Zamaludeen, also known as ‘Teresa,’ of Seaview, Stewartville, West Coast Demerara had been beaten to death, allegedly by Williams on January 21.
The couple had shared a house at Seaview and an abusive relationship for 13 years.
Speaking to Stabroek News yesterday, Zamaludeen’s daughter Annie (only name given), said the family received a call from the Leonora Police station yesterday morning informing them of Williams’s death.
She said they visited the station and positively confirmed his death by photographs shown to them.
According to Annie, based on information she gathered, Williams had fled to Essequibo and been staying at his relatives’ house since her mother’s murder.
She is convinced that the decision to take his own life was due to him killing her mother, stating that there was nothing else that he would stress about. For the young woman, her mother has received justice.
