A mason who allegedly broke into a home and stole $62,000 in cash and items, was granted $40,000 bail last week, when he appeared at the George-town Magistrates’ Courts.
It is alleged that between April 24 and 25, at Calendar Street, Albouystown, Quincy Andrews, 29, of West La Penitence, broke and entered the home of Lawrence Payne, stealing two Samsung cell phones and $12,000, totaling $62,000 in value. Andrews pleaded not guilty to the charge after it was read to him by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.
Police Prosecutor Deniro Jones, who objected to bail, told the court that the items were not recovered. He said Andrews was charged because he admitted to the offence while under caution.
Andrews’s case was adjourned until May 17 and transferred to Court 6.
