An East Ruimveldt youth who was apprehended by the police on May 5, allegedly for having a gun in his possession has been remanded to prison until May 17.
It is alleged that Dogan Hollingsworth, 18, who was at Hinck Street, Stabroek, had in his possession a .32 pistol without being a holder of a firearm licence. Hollingsworth pleaded not guilty to the charge that was read to him by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
According to Police Prosecutor Deniro Jones, Hollingsworth was seen by ranks acting in a suspicious matter. When the defendant spotted the police he ran and police gave chase and caught him, Jones related, adding that a search unearthed the weapon between his legs inside his pants.
