ST JOHN’S, Antigua, CMC – Sir Curtly Ambrose has been replaced as West Indies bowling consultant, just over a month after helping the regional team to the capture of the Twenty20 World Cup in India.
His spot has been taken by experienced Barbados Pride bowling coach, Roddy Estwick, the former Barbados and West Indies ‘A’ fast bowler who has served in the past as a Barbados and West Indies Under-19 coach.

Sir Curtly joined the coaching staff two years ago following a successful stint with Combined Colleges and Campuses, and has been a constant presence on the West Indies coach staff since.
He brought with him a stellar West Indies career which saw him snare 405 wickets from 98 Tests, before his retirement 16 years ago.
Sir Curtly was one of several legends co-opted to work with the embattled regional squad, with Sir Richie Richardson serving as manager before stepping down last January while Courtney Walsh was appointed as a senior team selector and Clive Lloyd named chairman of the selection panel.
Only recently, however, Sir Curtly came under fire, when noted former Barbados all-rounder Franklyn Stephenson labelled him “a fantastic bowler but … the worst coach,” he had seen.
Estwick, meanwhile, who played 37 first class matches during the 1980s, will take up his duties when the West Indies camp begins next Thursday.
West Indies players are expected to assemble to begin preparations for the Tri-Nations Series which runs from June 3-26 and also involves Australia and South Africa.
