A Travis Belgrave double-double propelled St. Stanislaus College to a 39-37 win over St. Joseph’s High School Saturday in an U19 affair of the National Schools Basketball Festival (NSBF), Georgetown and East Coast Regionals.
Played at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, Belgrave recorded 28 points and 11 rebounds as his side earned three points. For St. Joseph’s, Lemuel Grant scored nine points while Abevia Perry scored eight points and grabbed five rebounds.
Similarly, Georgetown Technical Institute (GTI) edged Marian Academy 45-40. Nathan Saul scored 17 points and Keon Marks eight points and six rebounds.
For the losing team, Jonathan Mangra scored a game-high 20 points and grabbed five rebounds while Jordan Alphonso scored six points and had 10 rebounds.
In the final match of the section, St. Rose’s High School downed President’s College 40-35. Shamar Huntley top scored with 15 points while Anfernee Jervis and Patrice Agrippa scored 10 and nine points respectively.
For President’s College, Akeem Crandon scored 10 points and had seven rebounds, Jaleel Duke scored nine points and pulled in five rebounds and Leon Harte scored nine points.
In the boys U16 division, St. Stanislaus edged Queen’s College 16-15. Devon Nedd scored six points while Nathan Hackett scored four points and had seven rebounds.
For Queen’s College, Brian Peters recorded a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds.
In the same division, Bishops’ High School defeated North Georgetown 24-17. Roydon Glasgow had 11 points and five rebounds while Shemar Greaves scored six points.
For North Georgetown, Jevroll Shepherd scored nine points and grabbed four steals
In the girls division, President’s College defeated Stanislaus College 12-2. Demelza Nicholson had 10 points, five rebounds and eight rebounds while Cherub Auter scored the only two points for the losing team.
In the second match, Marian Academy downed St Rose’s 19-7. Jada Mohan registered 10 points and five steals and Georginna Vyphius seven points and five rebounds for Marian Academy while Aliyah Howard scored four points and grabbed two rebounds for St Rose’s.
On Friday at the same venue in the girls division, Bishops’ High defeated Plaisance Secondary 7-1. Ruth Sanmoogan scored six points and recorded three steals.
The other fixture of the section witnessed Queen’s College defeating Charlestown 4-0. Miranna Ogle and Rianna Khan scored two points each.
In the Boys U14 section, St. Rose’s High crushed St. Stanislaus College 25-6. Shamar Bristol scored nine points and grabbed three steals while Jaheem Burton scored six points and pulled in 16 rebounds and Jaden Craig scored four points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Omario Gomeshdin scored six points and had two rebounds for St Stanislaus.
In the other match of the section, President’s College downed Bishops’ High 22-16. Jeremy Fraser scored five points and Akinyelle Derrell four points, six rebounds and four steals.
Chipping in with four points, four rebounds and as many steals was Richard Semple. For Bishops’ High, Timothy Richmond scored seven points and had four steals whilst Duwone Young scored four points, grabbed nine rebounds and had five steals.
