More than three months after Assistant Commissioner of Police Balram Persaud died in a fatal accident an inquest will be held soon to determine the circumstances surrounding how he met his demise.
Stabroek News understands that this has been advised by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Persaud died on February 23, this year at the Woodlands Hospital, some three weeks after he was involved in an accident which occurred at Schoonord, West Bank Demerara.
Reports had revealed that he lost control of his car and slammed into a utility pole after a tyre blew out. He had sustained more than five broken ribs and other injuries.
At the time of the accident, he was on annual leave.
