The manslaughter trial of Marlon Roberts, the Den Amstel man accused of killing his older brother during an argument over money commenced on Tuesday before Justice Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the High Court.
Roberts had allegedly stabbed his brother, Gregory Roberts, to death after the two had an argument over $1,000, which he had borrowed. This incident took place on November 14, 2010 at their Den Amstel, West Coast Demerara home.
Stabroek News had reported that on the night of incident, the two argued over the money and the accused allegedly threw the money on the ground. This further angered his brother and they become involved in a scuffle. As a result, the younger brother, a labourer, reportedly grabbed a knife from the kitchen and stabbed 26-year-old Gregory.
The case is being presented by State Prosecutor Tuanna Hardy in association with Narissa Leander.
