A 15-year old girl yesterday appeared at the Wales Magistrate’s Court charged with the murder of Dellon Bradford, the Wales Estate labourer who was fatally stabbed on Phagwah night earlier this year.
Details of the case were not made public since the arraignment was held in-camera, however, it was understood that the teenager was not required to plead since the charge was indictable.
Presiding Magistrate Clive Nurse remanded the juvenile until her next court appearance, which is scheduled for June 10.
Stabroek News had previously reported that Bradford, also known as ‘Chicken,’ 25, of Lot 417 Skull City, Patentia, on the West Bank Demerara, had been found on the roadway at Patentia with suspected stab wounds to his body.
He was admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he subsequently succumbed while receiving treatment.
Following his murder, two persons including his common-law wife were taken into police custody for questioning but were later released.
The mother of the juvenile told several reporters that she, her daughter and a man were taken into custody but were later released on $60,000 station bail each.
The sobbing woman related that police officers yesterday arrived at her home and took her daughter into custody, saying that she was going to be charged for the dead man’s murder.
