The United States Embassy in collaboration with the Canadian High Commission and the Global Friendships Foundation will host an event called ‘The Family Reunion’ on Monday, May 23 at the Promenade Gardens to mark the Golden Jubilee of Guyana’s Independence.
According to a US Embassy press release, the event aims to reconnect locals with friends and family from the diaspora and is expected to get underway from 6
pm, with the concert beginning at 7 pm. The free concert shall see performances from Lisa Punch, Jackie Jaxx, Outta Box Experience, the Unity Ambassadors, Collage, Elsie Harry-Ross, Rémar, Poonam Singh, Dublin, Juke Ross, Gadinelli and Rose Trim covering rap, R&B, pop, folk and soca music.
Each of the performances will include a Guyanese-centric focus, some of the songs have been composed specifically for the 50th Anniversary of Independence.
Food, beverages, and 50th anniversary souvenirs will be on sale, the release said.
