Queen Elizabeth, the Second’s outrider being depicted in the Ministry of Public Health’s float
The Ministry of Public Health’s float which depicted February 4, 1966, the day Britain’s Queen Elizabeth the second visited was designed by Derrick Moore. This float captivated onlookers with its chariot and horses and moreover the night when the Union Jack was lowered and when the Golden Arrowhead was hoisted for the first time.
‘All in the history as we celebrating 50’- this float that reflected on the 1973 Treaty of Chaguaramas, themed “Caricom Unity”, was presented by the Ministry of Social Protection. It was steered by the reigning Miss World Guyana Lisa Punch.
‘The Medicine Man’ is one of the three floats produced by the Ministry of Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs. The designer of this float is Trevor Alfred and team.
This band titled ‘The energy of Independence’ was one of the large bands in the Jubilee float parade. The Guyana Amazon Warriors band which was designed by Jermain Broomes had over 500 persons. Its sections depicted the glories of past Guyanese cricketers such as Carl Hooper and the newly crowned under 19 West Indian Champions in the Cricket World Cup.
