Pele stalwarts and Golden Jaguars internationals Gregory Richardson and Travis Grant as well as Omallo Williams have been provisionally banned by the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) for their actions in the abandoned fixture featuring Alpha United in the Stag Beer Elite League.
Efforts to contact the GFF and the players for a comment proved futile. However, according to sources close to the federation, the three players have been slapped with provisional bans pending an official disciplinary meeting.
The three will be debarred from taking part in any football related activities until a disciplinary meeting occurs and a specific sentence is handed down, sources told Stabroek Sport.
Owing to the ban, Richardson will not be allowed to participate in Guyana’s upcoming CFU Caribbean Cup campaign, sources said.
This latest development follows the sanctioning of Pele by the GFF. The club was officially fined $200,000 and faced a deduction of points from their tally for walking off the field and refusing to finish the match against Alpha United. Due to the deduction, Pele now has 14 points and drop to the fifth position.
The incident occurred May 18th with the score 2-0 in favour of Alpha United.
