Two men, Jermaine Edwards and Keno Lampkin, were yesterday accused of assaulting a woman in order to rob her.
Edwards, of Diamond Housing Scheme, and Lampkin, of Werk-en-Rust, were charged with assaulting Krystal Peters in an attempt to commit a robbery. They pleaded not guilty to the charge after it was read to them in a city court.
According to the prosecution, around 5.30pm on May 22nd, Peters was walking along Albert Street when she was choked from behind by one of the defendants and pulled to the ground. The woman began to call for help and public-spirited persons went to her rescue and apprehended the two men.
The magistrate granted each defendant $50,000 bail and adjourned the matter to June 10th.
