President’s College and St. Rose’s High School secured convincing wins when the National Schools Basketball Festival Georgetown and East Coast Regionals continued at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
In the under-19 boys’ division, President’s College overcame Marian Academy 61-54. Kadeem Peterkin scored a game-high 26 points while Jahleel Duke added 19.
Jordon Alphonso scored 24 points and Judah Stephney netted 14 points for Marian Academy.
In the second encounter, St. Rose’s High embarrassed St. Stanislaus College 67-6 in an under-16 boys’ matchup.
Anthony Yansen scored 25 points, grabbed six rebounds and had six steals while Atilla Williamson scored 11 points and Kwesi Robert registered nine points, six rebounds and four steals.
Gordon Trotman scored four of his team’s six points and also pulled in six rebounds.
Meanwhile, in the under-14 boys’ section, Marian Academy dismissed Queen’s College 29-9.
Corey Graham scored eight points and grabbed eight rebounds while Duard Lewis scored six points and Tyrese James four points and six rebounds. For the losing team, Lugard Mohan Jr., scored six points and pulled down two rebounds.
The tournament is being sponsored by Digicel Guyana, Edward B. Beharry (Champion) and Company Ltd and Banks DIH Ltd., (PowerAde).
The Regionals will shift to the girls’ and U14 quarter finals this weekend.
