With less than a week left until the Guyana National Stadium hosts the three opening matches of the 2016 Tri-Nation One Day International (ODI) series among South Africa, the West Indies and Australia, teams
are expected to arrive in the country within the next 48 hours ahead of Friday’s opening game.
According to a West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) release, the participating teams should all be in Guyana by tomorrow evening the latest, with hosts West Indies being the first to arrive later today at the Ogle International Airport. Meanwhile, the Aussies and the Proteas will are both expected to be in Guyana by tomorrow evening.
Upon their arrival, all three teams will then utilize the two remaining days Wednesday and Thursday for further training before the first day/night encounter bowls off at 13:00hrs Friday with the home team squaring off against the world-ranked number three team South Africa.
World Cup 50 Over champs, the Steven Smith-led Australia will then oppose the Caribbean side on Sunday, while the final match in Guyana next Tuesday will be contested between the two visiting sides, Australia and South Africa.
Tickets for the Guyana leg of the series have been on sale a few weeks now and according to recent statements from the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB), one of the locations to uplift tickets for the games, sales for
the upcoming three matches have been going well.
Head Curator of the Providence National Stadium, Wazim Habib, recently confirmed that the ground will be ready to host cricket at the highest level.
Accommodation-wise, damaged seats in the respective three stands are currently under repairs to further help give the Stadium a fresh look while on-field logos and banners are expected to be fully complete way
ahead of game day.
Fans can acquire tickets from the GCB Bourda office as well as the Providence Stadium while tickets can also be purchased online.
Tickets cost $2,000 for the Party Stand/Grass Mound with music and bars.
Orange stand tickets are $3,000 while the Red and Green Stands are $4,000. Vehicle passes cost $1,000 and Ticket holders are advised that setting will be done on a ‘first come first served’ basics.
