History will be on the side of the visiting Golden Jaguars when they oppose hosts Curacao today from 20:00hrs at the Ergilio Hato Stadium to commence the second round of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Caribbean Cup Qualifiers.
It will be the ninth matchup of the nations, with the 132nd International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) ranked Guyanese holding considerable advantage in the historical series against the 152nd ranked hosts.
Guyana has secured six wins in the meetings, with one loss alongside a drawn showdown.
In terms of the numbers, Guyana has recorded a formidable 18 goals in the contests at a rate of 2.25 goals per match. This is compared to their foe’s rate of 0.75 goals per match.
On the defensive end, Guyana has been equally formidable with only six goals conceded.
With regards to the numbers from the first round of the current event, Guyana has scored eight goals from two matches at a rate of four goals per match.
These numbers materialized following a 7-0 home win against lowly Anguilla and a hard-fought 1-0 away win against Puerto Rico. On the other side, Curacao have scored three goals entering today’s fixture from two matches at a conversion of 1.3 goals.
Defensively they have allowed in two goals. This was fashioned due to a 0-1 loss to Barbados and a 2-1 defeat of the Dominican Republic.

Meanwhile, the members of the technical squad are Head-Coach Jamaal Shabazz, Assistant Coach Wayne Dover, Goalkeeper Coach Andrew Hazel, Trainer Anson Ambrose, Physiotherapist Duane Saunders, Equipment Manager Trevor Burnett, Equipment Officer Earl Paul and Team Manager Rawle Adams
Guyana will end their campaign on June 4th against United States Virgin Islands at the Adelita Cancryn Playing Field in USVI from 16:15hrs. Round 3 of the Championship will begin in October 3-11; Fifth Place Playoff November 7-15; and the finals are scheduled for May 2017.
